I’ve had a long affair with procrastination. People may not always be able to tell
I’m procrastinating because on the outside I appear quite busy and actually
productive. Folding laundry,
reading Dante’s Inferno, reorganizing my closet…did you know that if you organize
your clothes by color you find
things faster and it looks beautiful too?
It’s like a rainbow of order and outfits. Simply fantastic.
But underneath it all I’m just procrastinating. I’m avoiding the things I really should be doing: grocery shopping, doing my taxes or writing papers for class. This week I’ve struggled with this paper about a large company failure and how leadership theories could explain its demise. Fun stuff huh? There are days when it feels like it takes me hours just to type one sentence that I don’t absolutely hate.
Unfortunately, even working on this paper has been a type of procrastination. Did you know that 1 in 5 children in Oregon go hungry every night? Yep, I heard that on television the other day and thought, gee I should something about that…but only after I’m done with my paper. Okay, fight hunger, do something amazing, but only after the paper.
If it weren’t for this paper I could tackle oh so many things.
But I realized that procrastination had simply masked itself as a paper this week. What form will it take next week? Sad.
I don’t suppose I will ever be able to give you up Procrastination….
Which reminds me...I've been putting off what I really wanted to say a few paragraphs ago which is, dear reader, I’m sorry for the lack of blogs last week. Yes, to all 3 of my followers, you are important…even you, random guy from Indonesia. I am back to the blog. Pinky swear.
Btw, I like the picture you chose for your blog. I used to have that same one on my MySpace profile. Found it through google pics.

Thanks! I found the picture on Flickr. It was supposedly taken at the Japanese Gardens here in Portland.
